Still waiting...

It has been a while since I've blogged, but things have been very busy for us trying to prepare for our second child. I"m due Feb 10th and I'm so ready to have this baby. This pregnancy has been a lot harder on me mentally and physically. On a positive note we finally have a name for our baby, which seemed so much harder to choose this time around. I also did a very big shop update, so please stop by and check out the new items I've posted. Hopefully in my next blog entry I'll be introducing our new little guy :)

Wall-E
My husband and I watched this movie over the weekend and loved it. It was a very touching story with a strong message about how this earth could eventually end up if we don't take care of it now. I wouldn't recommend it for small kids, since there isn't a lot of dialogue and its a bit slow in the beginning. I feel like watching it again right now...

Birdee Pillow

So I had a little time on my hands a few months ago and I started working on this little bird design. At first I had planned to make this into something I could hang up on my wall, but once I was finished with it, I just put it away and forgot about it for a while. Well a couple weeks ago I was cleaning out my craft area and doing some reorganizing and found the design I had worked on decided to turn it into a pillow. This is the first pillow I've ever made and I"m very happy with the end result. I plan to make a pillow with an owl on it very soon. I did put this pillow up in my shop...since I'm not sure where to put it in my own home.

Sunnee Sol or Lazee Daisee

The other night I decided to make something new. Its a little chew toy for a baby. The center is made out fleece and I used some left over Amy Butler fabric scraps to make the petals. I also attached a loop so that moms can clip it on to something so the baby can't throw it somewhere. My husband said it looked like the sun and thought it was very pretty and a great toy for a little one. I decided to name it Sunnee Sol, but I might change it to Lazee Daisee.

Getting stuff done

I have a craft show coming up in December and I've been cutting, sewing, swearing, stuffing, and having some extreme hot flashes trying to get my pieces done. Last night I cut out a ton of my owls and I can't wait to bring them to life. Hopefully I'll have a shop update very soon before the holidays. Until then enjoy a sneak peek of what is to come.

I'm not a fan of Mondays but they seem to go by very fast for me. I"m still recovering from a busy weekend of chasing my son around. I've been more tired with this second pregnancy than expected. I only have three more months to go and I'm still no where near ready for this baby to arrive. Oh what to do...maybe have a piece of cake?

Using my new crafting space

I've been crafting away these past couple of weeks and I have some new things to share with you. First is another lovely creature I finished and this one is made out of fleece. My son loved her and would not give her back for the longest time.

Another project I worked on was some hair clips. I have all these wonderful fabric covered buttons and wanted to do something cute with them. So I poked around for some inspiration and came up with these hair clips. They make great gifts for little girls or babies on the way.

Something new for a change...

I started working on a new plush design a couple weeks ago. So far I've completed three of these bunny looking "animals" and I have a few more I'm working on at the moment. I'm still playing around with the design and I have no idea what to call them yet. My son seems to like the grey one with the yellow patch around it's eye. He shook his head "no" when I tried to hand him the other two. I'll have more to share very soon.

Morning

Normally I don't blog about what I eat for breakfast, but today I felt like sharing. I've been eating a lot healthier. Lately I've been on this kick of only wanting to eat Honey Nut Cheerios with sliced bananas. Its so yummy and so good for me and my little "bean". My husband is very happy about me only craving healthy stuff. He's really into eating organic foods and I'm not sure how I feel about going in that direction. I'm very picky about what I eat. Enjoy the goodness below...you should try it sometime.

Very cool trade...

So I did a trade with a lovely lady by the name of Sandi D, who I came across on Flickr. She makes these really great baby sets! She sent me the cutest set for my new addition and also made this super cute pear onesie for my son. He looks so cute in it. Thanks again Sandi!!

Baby #2! Already?....

16 weeks

Um...I figured I would wait as long as possible before my husband and I shared the wonderful and surprising news that we are expecting our second baby! I'm 16 weeks (4 months) and I'm so happy to be over my morning sickness. We had no plans on having another baby for a few years, but God works in funny ways, so I see this as a big blessing and Orion will have a little sidekick to play with :). Its crazy to think that my kids will be a year and a half apart, but I hope down the road they will be the best of friends. I don't look forward to getting big again and waddling my butt around town this winter, but hopefully all goes well. We don't know what we're having yet, but I'll keep you posted.

It's been a while...

So I finally found some time to write a blog entry. These past couple months have been pretty eventful (good things). We bought our first home...a condo and we are all moved in and finally settling in nicely. I have a CRAFT ROOM!!!, which is so awesome and I started working on some new owls, which will be up in my shop this week. Soon I'll have some pics up of our new place. Party Time

Packages!!

I finally received a package from my Fabric Button Swap partner Jasna. She's from Germany and makes some beautiful things. She sent me some really cute buttons that I can't wait to use for some projects I have in mind. She also sent me this pretty heart she made filled with wild lavender, it smells so good. Jasna is a very talented and sweet crafter, I hope to keep in touch with her.

New Stuff

So I've been pretty crafty this week and I tried something new...fabric covered buttons! They are so easy to make and a great way to use fabric scraps. Father's Day....

So Father's Day was yesterday and it was the first official one for my husband. The whole day consisted of our son saying "Daa Dee" and then pointing to something that was not his dad. It was very funny and kept us entertained for a long time. I have to say that watching my son and hubby together is so sweet. They are so alike in many ways and it's such a blessing that Orion has a really awesome daddy.

What a week...

I haven't posted anything in a while, thats cause things have been a little crazy. I haven't had any time to do much of anything. Lack of sleep is really catching up to me. I did manage to post two new items in my shop. I started messing with some Heat n' Bond Ultra Bond and ta-da! Below are the results. I still have some more tees and onesies to work on, but I like how these are coming out.

On another note, I realized that my son is going to be one years old in a month. I can't believe it. It seems like I just had him. He's growing up so fast and he's driving me a little crazy :).

Hugabee - Version 2.0

A while ago I had created this plush toy I called a Hugabee. Well I decided to change my design and bit and I came up with this. I'm so happy with the result and I plan to make a few more this week to put up in my shop. I named this guy Cruz. He's made of non-pill fleece and has green cotton fabric accents.

What a Crafty Weekend

It was nice to finally have a three day weekend to spend with my family. My husband was busy working on a chariot for our son and finally finished it Saturday evening. We took our son for a ride in it on Sunday and he loved it. I posted two pics below and I'll have some better photos to post on Flickr this week.

In other crafty news...I finally finished another owl. I named this one Keiko. She's available in my shop. I absolutely adore her!

Spring Cleaning

So I decided to do some cleaning up at our place tomorrow. Totally not what I would like to do on my day off, but I have to get it done. My mom is taking our son for the weekend, so we get a break. Not sure what I would do without her....Love you Mom :). Anyway I might actually redo my son's room and maybe fix up our room as well. Mothers Day

I know Mothers Day has past, but I didn't get a chance to wish all the mommies out there a happy one and I hope it was. I can remember the day I found out I was pregnant, it was a total surprise. I was standing in my bathroom staring at the pregnancy test cursing up a storm! My husband was so happy and right away said it was a boy. Before I had my son, I was not looking forward to motherhood, but now that he's here, mommy hood has been the best ride of my life.

Etsy Treasury
I don't normally look in the treasury on Etsy. But today I was bored and decided to do some browsing and I came across this.

My Rita Owl was included in a treasury created by Earmark. I love the other items that were picked also, my favorite are those little red baby booties...too cute. You can see it better if you go here. Seeing this just made my day a lot better.

Friday Fun

Thursday...almost Friday

What a week it has been. The weather has been very good to us out here in VA and I'm looking forward to wearing another dress tomorrow :). I've been able to finish a bunch of sewing projects this week and I wanted to share one of them with you. I started making these cute little birdies out of vintage fabric. I love them and I hope others will love them as well. I think they would be a great accent to a baby nursery or any other place in a home. I have one sitting on a bookshelf in our place. I've put some up in my shop.

The Weekend

So I had a very eventful weekend. Sunday I participated in the Spring Baba-bing craft show at Plant Zero in Richmond, VA. The day before the show, I was at home sewing my caboose off! My mom even joined in the fun and helped stuff some owls. I was so relieved that I was able to get all my sewing done before the show. Anyway on Sunday my mother and I drove down to Richmond for the show. It was raining like crazy and we got lost for about an hour,but we finally made it. The show turned out to be a success and my owls were a big hit!!! I met so many great vendors at the show who made some really awesome stuff. Even one of my favorite bloggers/artist was there, Betz White! She brought some of her cute felted cupcakes and other fun goodies. It was very nice to meet her in person. What a lovely day...

I hope you had a great weekend. I sure did, the weather was gorgeous , spent a lot of time with my family and was able to get some sewing done. We took Orion to the park and I took some great pictures of him. He loves the swing and going down the slide on his belly. He's getting so big and wants to explore everything at his fingertips. In other news, I am working on updating my shop very soon. I have a craft show coming up, so I've decided to wait until next week to put post anything new. I'm really excited about the new stuff I've been working on. A Very Large Owl

The Weekend

This weekend went by very fast! Saturday I was in a craft show, which went really well. It was for women who own craft businesses in VA. I met a wonderful group of talented ladies and I hope to do another craft show with them.

Rose and Daisy

So I just finished these two little owls that I will be putting up in my shop soon. They are a bit smaller than the other owls I make. These are better for smaller kids (3-6 months). New Project

So I finished this new plush toy I created last night. I'm so happy with the finished results. I will definitely be making more to add to my shop. I decided to name these guys Hugabee's since there so soft and cuddly. This one is named Eple. He's made of navy blue fleece and I used some Amy Butler fabric scraps for his arms, ears, and belly. The beginning of many more messes to come

So my son started eating cheerios and these little puff cereal finger foods. It was troubling at first to watch him make the gagging like motion, but 10 minutes later he kept banging on his tray for more. He's definitely becoming more interested in what we are eating rather than his baby food. I just hope he doesn't have a big appetite like his father.

Julio - Weekend Project

The weekend went by to fast and it's already Tuesday. My husband decided to stay home Saturday, so we all hung out and enjoyed the warm weather. I did complete one project I've been wanting to do for a while. I decided to try something new with my owl eyes. I seen a lot of other artist do this and I wanted to see if I could. So I did and this is my finished result. I'm pleased with how it came out. I named this owl Julio. My husband liked the effect, but thought it was a little to realistic. He felt like Julio was watching his every move. So of course I had the pleasure of placing Julio in places where my husband could see him, just to mess with him a bit. I'm still debating on whether or not I'll make a few more owls like this.

So glad it's Friday. Yes, that's a pic of me above playing around with my camera. I know it's silly, but I was a little bored and needed a break. I have tons of laundry to do and many sewing projects to start and finish. It will be just me and my son hanging out together this Saturday. Weekend Goodness

Craft Show

The craft show I participated in on Saturday went very well. It was my second craft show and I actually had a lot of fun. My mom and I shared a space together and we had my son with us. He was so good and seemed to enjoy watching people walk by. If you're wondering what my mom does on the side you can check out her web site Gems by M . Below are some pics of my table I set up. I opted not to take any pics of my mom and I, we were looking a little rough since we had some last minute prep the night before for the show.

Family Time

Sunday was a really nice day to spend time with my family. My son is starting to crawl around like crazy and grabbing everything in site. But it's cool to watch him. I can't wait for warmer weather, Spring seems to be right around the corner!

Sew Sew Sew...did I say Sew?

Happy Tuesday! I have quit a bit of sewing to get done and not much time. The craft show I'll be in is this Saturday and I need to find some motivation to finish my stuff! I hope I don't sound like I'm freaking out, cause I'm really not. I just can't seem to find enough time in my day anymore. Do you have the same problem? Right now we live in a 2 bedroom apartment and my "studio" is in our dining room. My husband doesn't mind at all, but we can't wait to move out this summer and get a bigger place, so we can have a craft room and my son can have his own room. Well I have to go, it's going to be a gloomy day out here, but I hope you all have a wonderful day :).

Weekend Fun

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Mine was actually pretty relaxing. My son has his first tooth growing in, so a lot of our time was spent trying to keep him happy. Being a first time mom, I never know what to expect with my child. He's a wonderful baby overall, but there are days where I just look at him and think to myself..."did I have you to soon?", but then he smiles at me and it just makes my day.

Saturday my sister watched our son and we were able to get away for a while. My husband and I ended up going to the Textile Museum in Dupont Circle, Washington DC. They had only one exhibit open, but they had a pretty nice library with a lot of vintage sewing, knitting, fashion, and other really cool books. We plan to go back when they have some more exhibits open.

Past Weekend Fun - Baby Shower

Sick!!!!

So I've been sick for 3 days now. I don't know what I have but I refuse to go to the doctor. I did manage to catch up on some sewing and I have a few new things to add to my shop. But I'm so tired and all I want to do is sleep. But on a better note I did watch two really great movies, Little Children (R) and The Nanny Diaries (PG-13). Both really great movies. Family Day - Botanical Gardens, Washington DC

My family and I went on a nice outing last weekend to the Botanical Gardens in DC. Our son liked grabbing every plant in sight and trying to put it in his mouth, but overall he seemed amazed by all the colors and pretty flowers we looked at. My husband and I agreed that we'll have to come during the week to take more photos of the gorgeous orchids they had on display. I wonder where we'll go this weekend.
